Service Description
This is a 10 week course from 15th September 2026 covering aspects of all four themes of the IGCSE * Politics and Governance * Economic Development and the Environment * Culture and Community * Technology This course is suitable for age 12yrs and over. The course focuses on global citizenship, not just the UK, with real life application and case studies from around the world. Students learn to think carefully about different viewpoints, recognise biases, and formulate balanced arguments rather than accepting information at face value. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND TAKING THIS INTRODUCTION COURSE PRIOR TO EMBARKING ON THE IGCSE COURSE. We will cover: 15.9.26 Overview of the IGCSE Themes and the community action project 2 22.9.26 Active Citizenship in practice 29.9.26 Democracy, state and sovereignty 6.10.26 Systems of government 13.10.26 Human Rights 20.10.26 International Law NO LESSON FOR HALF TERM 3.11.26 The UN Sustainable Development Goals 10.11.26 Global and national cultures and identity 17.11.26 Climate Change 24.11.26 Social media identities and freedoms The IGCSE course itself will start in JANUARY 2027 and run until Easter 2028 - allowing time for past paper practice before the exam in May 2028. There will be a limited number of places available on the IGCSE course and it is expected that students will have taken part in this INTRO Course.
