Service Description

This is the first theme of the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE Global Citizenship IGCSE (9-1) (4GL1). There are 4 themes altogether: Theme 1: Politics and Government Theme 2: Economic Development and the Environment Theme 3: Culture and Community (plus Community project) Theme 4: Technology The course will be bookable theme by theme. Lessons are £5 an hour with a small group of up to 12 -15 students. This Theme is Politics and Government. Dates for the first half term are: Jan 7 Democracy and other governments Jan 14 Nation States Jan 21 Systems of Government Jan 28 Human Development Index Feb 4 What are Human Rights? Feb 11 Humanitarian Action -Peacekeeping HALF TERM Dates for the second half term are: Feb 25 Protecting Human Rights - Refugees March 4 International Law (i) March 11 International Law (ii) March 18 International Law (iii) March 25 Revision of all of Theme 1 and past paper questions All lessons are taught using detailed PowerPoint slides which support teaching and contain all the subject material needed for the IGCSE. The course will include working on exam questions from the start. All lessons slides as a pdf, recordings and other resources will be placed in a google classroom each week. These will be accessible until June 2027. All students (and preferably parents) will need to join the google classrooms for each theme to access resources. The complete course will consist of 50 one hour lessons. They will run until the end of March 2027, for the May 2027 exam. There is a community project element that students WILL NEED SUPPORT from parents on. I will lead and guide the project, but students need to commit to completing the action in their home communities.
